The tables are turned as four teenagers are sucked into Jumanji’s world – pitted against rhinos, black mambas and an endless variety of jungle traps and puzzles. To survive, they’ll play as characters from the game.

It’s been a wonderful year for Gal Gadot, whose starring roles in both “Wonder Woman” and “Justice League” were enough to make her the highest-grossing actress of 2017. Her two movies took in a total of $1.4 billion worldwide, which makes her the third-highest-grossing performer overall; Vin Diesel (“Fate of the Furious,” “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”) took the number one spot with $1.6 billion, followed closely by “Furious” co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (who also starred in “Baywatch” and “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle”) at $1.5 billion.

The annual list comes from Forbes, which publishes a similar report at the end of every year.

Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is catching up with Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” as both struggle to dominate the year-end domestic box office.

“The Last Jedi” pulled in about $19 million from 4,232 sites on Friday, with “Jumanji” staking its claim with around $17.8 million from 3,765 locations. “Star Wars’” number marks a 23% drop in revenue from the previous weekend, a relatively small downtick, with 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” having exhibited a 30% third weekend drop and 2016’s “Rogue One” coming in with a 20% decline.

“The Last Jedi” should pass $535 million domestically by the end of the four-day weekend, which will rocket it to just ahead of 2008’s “The Dark Knight” to become the sixth highest grossing film of all time, behind Marvel’s “The Avengers” with $623 million. The new number will also beat out “Beauty and the Beast” as the highest grossing film of 2017.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is inching closer to the $1 billion milestone, with worldwide grosses set to hit the mark before New Year’s Eve.

Disney-Lucasfilm’s “The Last Jedi” earned $934.2 million worldwide after pulling in $42.1 million globally on Thursday to reach $464.6 million domestically in two weeks along with $469.6 internationally.

“The Last Jedi” is now the 11th highest-grossing domestic movie of all time — less than $10 million behind 1999’s “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.” On the worldwide chart, it’s now 43rd and only $200,000 behind 2009’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” took in $19.4 million at 4,232 sites Thursday to top Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which has been “The Last Jedi’s” biggest competitor since it opened on Dec. 20. The action-comedy took in $15 million on Thursday from 3,765 North American locations, bringing the nine-day domestic total to $119.3 million.

Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle

One of the best all-out popcorn movies now playing is the superb sequel Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. I was very surprised with the Dwayne Johnson-led comedy action-adventure, and I would be definitely be up for seeing more in this superb franchise. Well, it appears that I may not be the only one as the main cast members have recently been opening up to ScreenRant about where the franchise could be taken next.

“I think it would be cool to see the mind behind the game. It’d be cool to like explore – because there’s gotta be like some alien technology,” said Jack Black, who plays Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon in the film.

“Like Oz,” Johnson replied. “Exactly. Who’s behind the curtain on this game,” added Black.

If there was ever a time to make an all-female Marvel movie, Karen Gillan says it’s now. The star of Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle told Cbm she’s not the only actress tied to the universe that thinks so, and recounts the story of when she teamed up with a group of them to confront Kevin Feige to make one:

“Brie Larson was like, ‘We should go up to Kevin Feige and tell him to make an all-female Marvel movie,’ so we marched up there in a group, a whole herd of us, and said that to him. He was like, ‘Yeah, that would be amazing!’ but he didn’t really commit to it, but he thought it would be a great idea. Look at the success of Wonder Woman. It’s clear we all want that.”
